Praveen Kumar, Founder & CEO
A serial entrepreneur, Praveen brings a combination of technology, marketing,
and finance experience to Packet Island. Praveen started his career as an
Engineer at Hewlett Packard developing HP Openview products and technologies. Later,
he served as the lead architect for several of
HP's largest ISP messaging deployments, worldwide. After HP, Praveen co-founded Ethercloud, a
voice-over-wifi startup, and Musicphone (Acquired by Gracenote/Sony), a mobile entertainment
service delivery platform company. Prior to founding Packet Island, he served as VP of product management
and marketing at Telsima, where he played a key part in the company's acquisition and
integration of Intel's VoIP chip business. Praveen has an MBA from the Haas School of Business,
UC Berkeley, an MS(CS) from UC Riverside, and a BE(CS) from the College of Engineering - Guindy (CEG), Chennai, India.
Don Lewis, VP of Services
Don Lewis comes to Packet Island with 24 years of experience in sales engineering,
product development and marketing roles in the telecommunications industry. Prior
to joining the company, and for the past 3 years, Don was the Vice President
of Strategic Implementations and Products at CommPartners, a nationwide wholesale
VOIP CLEC located in Las Vegas. Prior to that Don held senior staff and operational
management positions at Overture Networks, Alidian Networks, and Tollbridge
Technologies. Where he directed, implemented, and engineered the first nationwide
Voice over IP network. Don Lewis is a former director of marketing for Tekelec.
And he spent 19 years with GTE Telephone Operations now known as Verizon. At GTE,
Don was last responsible for and managed the corporate competitive response
department. As well as GTE's World Class Network program for very large customers
in the West region. Don has been recognized for his accomplishments with
awards such as the GTE circle of Success 100 Gold Award and the GTE Network A
pplications Specialist of the Year Awards. Don received a Bachelor's Degree
in Business Science Management from California Lutheran University (CLU).
Brenda Keener, VP of Business Development
Brenda Keener brings over 24 years of experience to her role at Packet
Island, including extensive startup and VoIP experience. Some of her prior
roles include Director of Sales for Wi2Wi Inc, Director of Sales and
Marketing for ipDialog - a SIP phone company, Global Sales Manager for
Digital Equipment Corporation's semiconductor division, and Director of
Technical Marketing for Centillium Communications. She holds a BS Materials
Science from Northwestern University, an MSEE from Santa Clara University,
and an MBA from Edinburgh Business School with a concentration in Finance.
